Public Record Office Victoria provides a range of training for individuals and community groups in best-practice collection management, digitisation, archiving and disaster management. Regular seminars are held at the Victorian Archives Centre in North Melbourne, as well as throughout regional Victoria.
We have three confirmed workshops coming up in the first half of 2012: Just Digitise It, Picture Perfect Pixels and Caring for your Photos and Documents.
Just Digitise It!
Back by popular demand, Just digitise it is a one-day practical workshop where you’ll learn how to digitise your cultural collection and gain hands-on experience in the process of digitisation from planning through to publishing online.
Workshops will be held in the Yarra Valley, Bendigo and Geelong. Please check the website for further updates.

Picture Perfect Pixels: Reviving Your Photos
Bring your photographic collection to life. At this free hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to resize, crop, adjust lighting and contrast, and remove dust spots and scratches from your digital photographs.
Bring in a couple of photographs from your photo collection to practice on during the session. Take home a copy of your edited image at the end of the workshop.
Beginners welcome (basic computer skills required).
Caring for your Photos and Documents
Nick Selenitsch, Special Projects Conservator at The University of Melbourne’s Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation (CCMC), will provide you with the information you need to care for your photographs and documents.
Participants are invited to bring in examples of photographs or paper documents from their home or community collection for conservation advice during the workshop. Workshops are planned for Geelong and Melbourne. Please check the website for further updates.
