VERS Refresh

To continue the VERS program of work and lead the Victorian Government in the second stage of VERS maturity, the VERS Refresh report was delivered in 2011. The VERS Refresh project seeks to position PROV in a leadership role with regards to electronic information and records.

  • VERS applies to the moment of creation of a digital record as part of day to day government business.
  • VERS in applies to all Victorian Government digital records, whether they are short term temporary, long term temporary or permanent.
  • VERS applies over the entire life of a document, from creation to disposal.
  • VERS applies to records that were created in a digital format, as well as those that have been converted into a digital format.
  • VERS provides leadership with new technology, including cloud computing, social media usage, and other types of structured data.

This project includes:

  • A snapshot of the information management landscape in Victorian government agencies
  • Recordkeeping policy development for new technologies (cloud computing, social media, and other types of structured data)
  • Best practice guides
  • Executive sponsorship of VERS projects undertaken in the inner budget agencies
  • Agenda setting and leadership for the future of digital information and records

Due to the resource intensive nature of the certification process, a Self Certification Program has been initiated for software vendors who have previously met the minimum compliance requirements.
