VERS Governance and Partnerships

While VERS is an initiative of Public Record Office Victoria, its development and implementation relies on the support of our partner organisations and governance bodies.

The VERS Steering Committee draws on its members’ expertise in Victorian public sector digital records management to inform and oversee the work of the VERS program. The Steering Committee has performed this valuable role since 2002.  It is chaired by Justine Heazlewood, Director of Public Record Office Victoria and Keeper of Public Records.

Project partners

Australasian Digital Recordkeeping Initiative

The Australian Digital Recordkeeping Initiative is a collaboration between the ten national, state and territory public record institutions of Australia and New Zealand. ADRI provides a valuable forum for sharing information and developing solutions common to all jurisdictions. As well as contributing to the development of a range of ADRI products, Public Record Office Victoria is developing tools and guidance in the area of digital Disposal Authorisation as part of the VERS program.

  Government Services Division

PROV is collaborating with the Government Services Division of the Department of Treasury and Finance (Vic) on a range of information management activities. The two organisisations are working together on a Measurement Framework to ensure that the tools developed in the  project align with all relevant Whole of Victorian Government record and information management standards, and meet the expectations of our common stakeholders.

Australian National Data Service (ANDS)

Through its Archival Metdata Publishing Project, Public Record Office Victoria is contributing collection data to ANDSResearch Data Australia program; home to over 40,000 datasets from across the Australian research and public sectors. As well as increasing the visibility of our collection data – the descriptions of individual records in the collection – this initiative will enable more opportunities for new uses of this valuable data.

eScholarship Research Centre, University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne’s eSRC has provided advice and expertise to Public Record Office Victoria on a range of data management areas; most recently through a consultancy to develop functional specifications for one of PROV’s key VERS projects, the Workbench.
