PROS 19/06 Access Standard sets out the principles and requirements that Victorian public offices must comply with in order to ensure records are accessible for the period of time they must be retained and that access is not restricted, unless required by legislation, regulation or policy.

This Standard is comprised of the following areas:

  • Open access
  • Open access to records in the custody of the Keeper of Public Records
  • Accessibility

Material in the Public Record Office Victoria archival collection contains words and descriptions that reflect attitudes and government policies at different times which may be insensitive and upsetting

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples should be aware the collection and website may contain images, voices and names of deceased persons.
