The PROV Government Recordkeeping Team invites stakeholders to review a new draft Retention and Disposal Authority (RDA) for records of the Public Health Function.
The aim of this RDA, once issued as a Standard, is to specify records required as State Archives and to provide for the lawful disposal of records not required permanently after specified periods.
This RDA will apply to the Department of Health and comprises 11 unique functions. It will replace PROS 08/15 RDA for Public Health Functions, first issued in 2008.
The new draft RDA is available below, along with a report outlining the background, scope and highlights of the appraisal recommendations. The report focuses on appraisal of the permanent records, and where there is a significant difference from PROS 08/15.
Stakeholders are invited to read the draft RDA to gain an understanding of the records proposed for permanent retention as State Archives and the proposed minimum retention periods for the records not required to be kept permanently. You may wish to focus on the area of specific interest.
PROV’s RDA development process is designed to navigate the statutory, operational and risk environments and to account for stakeholder views. Our overall objective is to set retention periods which, on balance, account for possibly competing concerns and views whilst meeting the broader legislative requirements.
