About the new RDA
PROV has released a new Retention and Disposal Authority (RDA) to authorise the disposal of records created by Expert Panels which are subject to the Public Records Act 1973. Expert Panels occur where a group of specialised practitioners are appointed to a panel to discuss, deliberate, and make recommendations on a particular case or topic.
The new RDA, PROS 18/03 Retention and Disposal Authority for Records of Expert Panels, covers functions unique to Expert Panels. These functions include:
- Panel Establishment and Administration
- Case Management
- Complaints
Development of the RDA
The RDA was developed by the Convenor of Medical Panels (Medical Panels) in collaboration with PROV. It has been developed under the auspices of PROV’s Disposal Remodelling program, an objective of which is to ‘future proof’ and broaden the application of PROV’s RDAs. This RDA has been developed with that approach in mind.
Multiple stakeholders were consulted during the RDA’s development.
Scope of the RDA
Although developed specifically for Medical Panels, the class descriptions of this RDA are reasonably generic so that it might be extended to other Expert Panels over time. Please contact us if your agency would like to be covered by this RDA.
Agencies covered under the scope of the RDA are:
- Convenor of Medical Panels
- Other agencies by application to PROV
This RDA is designed to be used alongside PROS 07/01 General Retention and Disposal Authority for Records of Common Administrative Functions.
