Author: Government recordkeeping
We are seeking feedback on our new draft retention and disposal authority (RDA).
The draft RDA is for property management records.
This RDA applies to all Victorian public offices.
Once issued as a PROV standard, it will outline records that need to be retained as state archives. It will also allow for the lawful disposal of non-permanent records after designated time periods.
This RDA will replace the existing property management function of PROS 07/01 RDA for Common Administrative Functions. It forms the third stage of our redevelopment of PROS 07/01.
The functions covered by this RDA include:
- Acquisition and Disposal
- Design and Construction
- Maintenance
Provide your feedback
Have your say on the draft RDA. We would appreciate any feedback you may have, including:
- Are the retention periods reasonable?
- Is the language clear?
- Can you see any gaps in coverage?
A report is also available to help guide your feedback and understanding. It outlines the RDA’s background, scope and appraisal recommendations.
Please provide your feedback by email to agency.queries@prov.vic.gov.au by Tuesday 20 October 2026.
