PROS 10/13 S3 Transfer of State Archives to PROV Specification provides a detailed set of requirements which define the criteria for transferring state archives into the custody of Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) and Places of Deposit (POD) repositories.

Disposal authorities issued by PROV specify the records determined as being of permanent value that are to be transferred to PROV as state archives. This needs to be done as part of the normal recordkeeping disposal processes. Adopting a planned approach to transferring permanent records into the custody of PROV will ensure agencies meet legislative and accountability requirements, resources are managed effectively and state archives are preserved for the community.

The review of the Disposal Standard included review of the associated Specifications, including this Specification which was reissued on 1 September 2017 as version two. The changes made were a reordering of requirements to match the reordering of principles including the removal of the accuracy principle and the streamlining of requirement to aid clarity and remove superfluous or repetitive content.
