Monash Medical Centre in Clayton is one of the State's major teaching, research and referral hospitals, providing specialist surgical, medical, allied health and mental health care to Victoria's south-east.
The Monash Medical Centre was formed in 1987 as the result of the amalgamation of three pre-existing hospitals, the Queen Victoria Medical Centre (VA 1254) , Prince Henry's Hospital (VA 441) and Moorabbin Hospital (VA 1250).
In August 1995 the Monash Medical Centre joined with Dandenong Hospital (VA 1246), the Kingston Centre (VA 1278), Sandringham and District Memorial Hospital (VA 1256), Hampton Rehabilitation Hospital (VA 1237), and the Mordialloc-Cheltenham Community Hospital (VA 1251) to form the Southern Health Care Network which later became Southern Health on 31 December 2001 and was then renamed Monash Health on 20 May 2013 (VA 5264).
