Officially known as: Appointments Boards (Primary and Post-Primary)
The Appointments Boards (Primary and Post-Primary) were established in 1981 under the Teaching Service Act 1981 as the successor to the Committees of Classifiers (VA 1224). The Boards were responsible for the appointment of permanent teachers through promotion or transfer to advertised vacant positions in the Victorian Education Gazette. It publishes Classified Rolls of permanent primary and post primary teachers employed in the teaching service.

The Appointments Boards were abolished in 1993 following the passing of the Education Acts (Teachers) Act 1993 (no. 44/1993).
