Partnering with organisations such as the ones below allows for the digitisation and indexing of records that may not otherwise be digitised (or at least not for a very long time). We do not surrender any rights under these contracts, we grant partners a license to publish the copies they create on their websites. We also publish those records to our site over time.
PROV has partnered with Ancestry to digitise the microfilm record collections we have in our Reading Rooms. These records are being indexed and published by Ancestry.com.au through their website. Many of these records will become available on our website once we fully launch our upgraded catalogue later in 2021.
Family Search teams have been working with PROV since 2005 to digitise records as part of a series of partnership projects. Family Search have digitised and we have published Victorian Wills, Probate and Inquest records from the 1840s to 1925. They have recently completed a new batch of Wills and Probate records from 1925-1937 which we will be publishing.
Find My Past
Find My Past have joined forces with Family Search and PROV to digitise Coastal Passenger Lists and Petty Sessions registers from the PROV collection and published on the Find My Past website. Many of these records will become available on our website once we fully launch our upgraded catalogue later in 2021.
Public Record Office Victoria digitisation projects
Public Record Office Victoria staff and volunteers are constantly working to make sure that more of our records are available online.
