This series comprises pre-printed volumes containing annual lists of inmates at the Bendigo Benevolent Asylum, and Bendigo Benevolent Asylum and Lying-in Hospital (VA 1275). Information in this series is recorded for each inmate under the following headings:

- Number (a sequential numerical identifier assigned to each patient)

- Cause of Admission
- Occupation
- Discharged
- Date
- Locality Received From,
- Religion
- Birth Place. 

Separate lists were maintained for male and female inmates.

There are no indexes to these records. Users would need to have a date period within which to search and then scan the contents of the lists for that time period.
