Function / Content

This series comprises reports relating to the commissioning of the Essendon and District Memorial Hospital (VA 1247) facility constructed in the late 1970s to 1982.

In 1976, a second maternity wing with 18 beds was constructed, and by 1982, the hospital had completed the construction of an additional 200-bed general hospital wing. Any further plans were suspended in 1982 by the Health Commission (VA 652).

The reports by I.P.M.A Pty Ltd, an architecture firm, were to validate or adjust previous utilisation decisions and make recommendations to hospital management regarding the most appropriate role and scope of services to be provided based on the needs of the demographic in the catchment area.

Recordkeeping system

The reports are arranged in a single number system. Please note that reports 2-22 are the only existing reports.
