Function / Content
This series consists of annual reports of the Hospital Saturday and Sunday fundraising appeal.
Hospital Saturday and Sunday was an annual fundraising appeal that ran in Melbourne from 1873 to 1923, with The Royal Melbourne Hospital being a key recipient. The Hospital Saturday and Sunday fundraising idea was imported from England by professional fundraiser for the Alfred Hospital Sizar Elliott. These annual reports were produced by the Committee of Management and Distribution and detail the collection and distribution of funds to the hospital during these fundraising events. Included is information regarding the distribution of funds, list of donations by type of doner—church, school or via funding drive—with the amount donated and a statement of accounts.

The reports are bound in volumes and arranged in chronological order. Although the fundraising initiative operated until 1923, only reports dated up to 1897 appear to be extant.
Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Archives.
