This series comprises files of speeches given by various medical staff of The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) (VA 1048).

Topics covered in the speeches included medical education and teaching, medical research, clinical departments in select universities, medicolegal issues, RMH management structure, RMH administration, leadership, RMH history, the use of Boards, quality control in hospitals, challenges in nursing, the system of medical staff appointments and elections, and plastic surgery. Also included is some biographical information on RMH doctors and administrators Julian Augustus Smith, Frank MacFarlane Burnet, James Beaney, Thomas Dunhill, George Adlington Syme, Albert Coates, Alan Newton and Len Swinden.

Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Archives.
