Function / Content

This series comprises agendas and minutes of meetings conducted by the Urban Land Council. Included are papers submitted for discussion, development project progress reports, legal advice and details about potential land acquisition and housing projects. Also included are papers regarding relations with State and Federal Governments, as well as agencies from other states or territories that were also formed under the Urban & Regional Development (Financial Assistance) Act 1974 (Commonwealth).

How to use the records

Minutes, agendas, and associated papers are bundled by meeting and can be searched by date of meeting or agenda item, which can include project names, agency or company names, or general subject terms such as “contract”, “legislation” or “sale”.

Minutes from Meetings dated 15 May 1975 to 12 July 1978 appear to be missing, however information about these meetings can be found in a summary sheet. This summary is the first record listed in the series.

Recordkeeping system

Meetings were registered chronologically using a single number sequential system. The control symbol for Meeting number 31 is duplicated although it is unclear as to why. Ministerial Council meetings were also filed within the sequence of general meetings; however, these were not numbered. Development Victoria later applied a sequence number to Ministerial Council meetings for reference prior to transfer. These control symbols are represented with the prefix MC, e.g., MC Meeting 1.
