Function / Content

This series consists of an abridged copy of G.A. Robinson's Journal of an expedition to the eastern interior, created by the Chief Protector of Aborigines (VA 512).

This expedition took Robinson some two thousand and two hundred miles into the eastern interior for the purpose of acquiring information as to the state of Aboriginal tribes in that area.

In the journal, Robinson gave a detailed account of the course of his expedition and the Aboriginal tribes encountered. For each tribe information such as name, location, health and conduct toward other tribes and white settlers was recorded. Information was also recorded on the Native Police Corps.

Attached to the journal is a copy of a letter from Charles Huon, John Rae, A.A. Huon, William Huon and Robert Brown dated 31/10/1844 advising of an epidemic of venereal disease among the Aborigines of the Albury District.
