PROV has revised a number of mandatory Standards and Specifications which it sets for the Victorian public sector. This has followed substantial input from a wide range of public sector records management professionals.
The Standards apply to records held in all formats and organisational systems. These provide the principles which must be followed and requirements which must be met when managing all records created by public offices, in all formats, media and systems across the organisation.
These new Standards and Specifications are listed below
- Strategic Management Standard
- Operational Management Standard
- Create, Capture and Control Standard (including digitisation, long term formats, and metadata specifications)
- Access Standard
To learn which standards they have replaced and to understand the Standards Framework more generally, including why it helps manage public records efficiently, view our page about the Standard Framework.
Please note that the Victorian Electronic Record Strategy (VERS) requirements for public offices are now included in the new Create, Capture and Control Standard and associated Specifications.
More extensive guidance and a recordkeeping assessment tool (RKAT) for measuring performance maturity and compliance are being developed and will be made available in the near future.
